How to remove a background
- Drop your photo onto the box, or click to choose it.
- Wait a moment while the AI model loads. The first time, your browser downloads the model once and then keeps it, so the next photos are much faster.
- Choose a new background: transparent, white, black or a custom colour.
- Click Download image. Transparent images save as PNG, coloured backgrounds as JPG.
Standard or HD model?
- Standard is a 44 MB model that works on almost every computer and modern phone. It is great for people, portraits and most products.
- HD is a 115 MB model with sharper edges around hair and fine detail. It needs a browser with WebGPU, such as the latest Chrome or Edge on a computer. If your device does not support it, the tool switches back to Standard.

Tips for the cleanest cut-out
Use a photo where the subject is in focus and clearly separated from the background. Good lighting and contrast help the most. Very busy backgrounds or subjects that blend into the background may need touching up. After removing the background, frame your subject with the image cropper, resize it with the image resizer, or shrink the file with the image compressor.
